Taking Care of Your Ear-Health
For a musician whose livelihood depends on rehearsing and playing music, your risk of hearing impairment is greater than average. At Pindrop, we are dedicated to the ear-health of our clients.
The inner ear or Cochlea contains sensory hair cells that are damaged by sound. The destruction of these cells and the attached nerve fibres results in hearing loss. This could be in the form of:
Tinnitus - the perception of sound in the absence of sound
Hyperacusis – extreme noise intolerance
Distortion - where sounds are heard but lack clarity
Diplacusis – when sounds are perceived as a different pitch
Noise-induced hearing loss is preventable – don’t let it happen to you. We supply a range of products designed specifically for professionals from the music and entertainment industry from in-ear monitors for musicians to custom broadcasters ear-moulds.
“Very pristine sound, they really detail the lows as well as the highs, and also get the middle mixed in very well. I think you can’t beat them.” – Joe Atkinson, That Sunday Feeling
Our Approach
Rather than concentrating solely on the sale of hearing protectors, we provide a service. Our focus is on clinical excellence in Audiology and not on retail. We’ll consider your individual needs; profession, current noise exposure, past exposure, environment and circumstances before making recommendations. We are completely unbiased and independent, without any ties to specific manufacturers. Therefore we’ll supply you with the most appropriate hearing device based solely on your unique situation.
Appreciating Industry Needs
As a musician, your ears are unarguably your two most valuable possessions. At Pindrop Hearing, the prevention of hearing damage is our primary concern but we appreciate the challenges faced by musicians, sound engineers and DJs.
We understand the pressures of live a performance, the problems with speaker monitors, the importance of clarity and accuracy of sound during practice. Each instrument has its own risks, some musicians need more protection than others. Singers face different difficulties to drummers. We can help devise the correct hearing conservation program for you; including help and advice to help reduce your risk of noise induced hearing loss.
"The only in-ear monitors I can use night after night, and I still get surprised by them. Cracking stuff" – Austin Dickinson, Rise to Remain
